Spring Has Sprung…

…my update schedule. (#ugh)

I think this all started when I picked up The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore as my micro history for Book Riot’s #ReadHarder challenge and found out that it was terrible: the narrative was dragging, Lepore’s choice of end-notes over footnotes became an endless page-flipping experiment, and her unfamiliar citation format gave me a headache. I mean, it’s a friggin’ social history of a female super hero! This book should have rocked me so hard; but, instead, it sat on my bedside table for a full week while I made excuses not to read past page, like, 50.

So I decided to stop forcing myself to read it and chose, instead, How Star Wars Conquered the Universe: The Past, Present, and Future of a Multibillion Dollar Franchise by Chris Taylor. And it was better – much better (can we all just agree that footnotes are infinitely better than end-notes????). But it’s still been three weeks since I started reading and I’m only about half-way in and so totally not ready to follow my own blogging schedule and post a review today instead of this whiny blog post.* (#ugh!)

Suffice to say, I have not been a good blogger the past month or so, but maybe now that it’s actually spring (and not pretend-spring), I can get myself back on track.

*(I also missed a Thoughts On post on the 31st and a Five Favorite post on the 6th – if anyone is even paying attention.)
